On April 15, 2025, during joint WOA.digital & Comarch Digital Factoring Meeting in Bucharest, we had the pleasure of engaging with Romanian factoring companies on several key topics:

  1. Overview of the CEE & Romanian Digital Factoring Market
  2. Accelerating Factoring with Digital Invoice Data
  3. Effective Implementation of New/Updated Factoring Software

Key Takeaways from the Meeting:

  1. CEE & Romanian Digital Factoring Market Overview
    • 21 companies now offer a fully digital factoring process, an increase of 3 since 2023 and 12 since 2020 in the CEE region.
    • Poland leads with the highest number of fintechs (6) and banks/factoring companies (4) providing a complete online factoring process, totaling 10 factors.
    • In Romania, two independent factoring companies/fintechs, Instant Factoring and Omnicredit, offer fully digital factoring processes.
  2. Accelerating Factoring with E-Invoicing Data
    • We explored examples of embedded invoice finance from the CEE region, including the integration of the factoring process into online invoicing platforms and usse cases when customers can initiate the factoring process and retrieve e-invoicing data from the Hungarian Tax Authorities via API.
    • We considered the RO e-factura process and discussed how factoring system users can access e-invoices sent to the RO e-factura system within the factoring system.
    • The envisioned customer journey when RO e-factura is integrated into the factoring process includes:
      • Customer logs into the factoring portal.
      • Customer views the list of invoices issued by them, retrieved from the Tax Authority.
      • Customer selects the invoices they wish to finance.
      • Invoice data is pushed to the factoring system.
  3. Effective Implementation of New/Updated Factoring Software
    • Using the example of mFaktoring & Comarch implementation in Poland (watch Conversation on that on YouTube), we highlighted key lessons:
      • Speed is achievable but requires full commitment from both teams.
      • Initial gaps are often a matter of perspective; hands-on experience can change everything.
      • Migration strategy is crucial; while step-by-step provides flexibility, a Big Bang approach could be faster and more efficient.

Thank you to all the participants and special thanks to Katalin Kauzli, Karol Leszczyński, and Mariusz Zwolski for sharing your knowledge and experience on these topics.

We look forward to delving deeper into these topics during our next visits to Romania and other countries.
